This week I had the most amazing honor to visit twenty beautiful women of God in a healing house for women. I was invited to speak about my prison ministry and my book ‘God’s Unbreakable Love’. It’s a day that I will always remember. I could feel the presents of God as I walked through the front door. It was almost like the house was hugging me. I arrived early and the ladies were in the middle of their devotions so I sat back and just absorbed the beauty of God’s precious daughters sitting in a circle opening their hearts up to Him and sharing their fears, pain and trusting the Lord to heal their wounds.
I later told them my story of how God rebuilt me and brought me to where I am today. The director spoke up as I was closing and said that they had a surprise for me. She went on to say that there was someone in the room that was there because of me. I said “I’m sorry what did you say, I didn’t hear properly?” Just then a young lady raised her hand and said “I’m here today because of you. You were the one that gave me hope and made me want to live a better life. I read your book in prison after you shared with us one night in prison chapel. I’m here because you made me believe I could do it”.
The first thing that came to my mind was a desperate prayer in tears a week earlier in the middle of the night in my living room. “Dear God, am I really making a difference in prison or am I just wasting time when I could be doing something else more useful for your kingdom? We rarely get to see the fruit when they leave us and sometimes Lord I can’t help but wonder.”
What an awesome God we serve. What a gift of encouragement to continue on just when I was about to give up. We all suffer doubt and get discouraged at times no matter how strong your walk is but know that God is always there to hold you up and restore your strength. Just call on him and pour out your heart. He will answer in the most unexpected way.
